Black Irish

In foreign eyes, seen on neutral grounds..
I am not Irish, so I know not why..
Green beer,red beard and Leprechaun..
Do all men, lay claim to St. Patrick..

I see with a third eye..
Sat on foreheads of opposing sides..
I see in simplicity..

Nationalist and Unionist , all in Irish..
The old dogs of Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley ..
That of Peter Robinson and Martin McGuiness
I am not Irish, so I judge with reason..

Excused the realities of what beliefs one holds..
This is the legacy of the blood line ..
But I am not Irish, So I know not why ..

Just for peace, in the lands of men, I did wish..
For quietness, of clamness of the rough seas..
For the infant need sleep, the night in peace..

  1. Love the title, and your seeing with a third eye set "in foreheads of opposing sides." Cool! Also your wish for peace in the lands of men. Well said.
