The contract

This is t' contract of relations, relative to knowing
I have come to the realisation, to the know
That this here, is a contract of negotiation, on balance

Where goal posts are never
Positioned on permanent spots
And the sway of the bowl of fulfilment

That which carries content of liquid formations
Is kept at a constant swing to maintain balance
For solids are made brittle in endurance of bonds

Do not look out to be favoured by events
Not always,  at all times in having a way with
This is t' conditions of grounds, made ready to build on

As intended based on the subject of negotiations
Compromises made prominent to attention on balance
And courtship and friendship is to hold this as basic

I have come to realise, in part, in ways
That in forms in bonds formed, no one is to take spoils
Winning all every-time on roulette tables

Not if for the enrichment wished for
Is to be graced with the fortitude of longevity
And thus, not a flash in the pan, upon pacts signed

This is a contract of understanding
On what relationship's balance are  to be formed on
Say I do, say I, to roll up one's sleeves and engage

This is the contract of relations
I have come to the realization, on centered mind
That this here, is a contract of negotiation

My Joyful Day

I will silence the winds
And have the trees stop their dance
Until called upon to do so

I will call out the clouds
And say to them, this day
Just this day, spare me your rain

And the grass will know to keep to a height
We greed on, upon a gentleman's handshake
Not too high a' not too short, just perfect in trim

The sea will calm their rattle
The dolphins will synchronise their jumps
The salmons will not yet go red

I will have the sun come out
And the birds will line in choir, well tuned
Ready and willing to sing at a moments notice

And the sky will give me
Its bluesiest of colour so picture perfect
For ceremonial  me, to sit in adore

To name this day
My joyful day, oh what a day
To have this day be

My Favourite Spot

photo: Christine Donnier-Valentin
A chair, a sofa, a place to rest
A place to rest, from voyage path
A place, I like, I call my spot, my comfy rest

A place before the tv set
A place I sit, to overlook my abode
A place sat, in a place called home

Home sat in, home to be, on a sofa
A place to cuddle, to hold, to love
A place to share, a story I know

Now who went a' called out the removal van
She packed my sofa, without my knowledge
A' placed it under a bridge, on voyage's path

She called it art, contemporary and modern
A place where I sit, my place I love
A place where I sit, to rest my mind

Put it back! my favourite spot
Damn you, put it back, no not at the Tate
Back I say, to my favourite spot

Announce Tables

Announce tables
A stage set, a page turned
A letter head with an unknown name

A picture drawn, with an unknown face
A character stands undefined
A faint disturbance from a standing mic

The winds blow, the curtains dance
 A Mexican wave gathers form
Slowly with grace, like a ball room dance

A whisper of sound, awakening light
Ignites blaze, glow of fire
Slowly gathers ground like the waves

A figure enters a crowded room
He takes a step, and nears the stand
He finds the center and comes to light

A stage is set, a page is turned
A character is defined
In a sea of crowd gather

Who are you to be
In a crowded room, taking steps
While shoes wait to be owned, claimed,  filled

Announce tables
A stage set, a page turned
A letter head with an unknown name

Where I want to be

How I want to start the day, on focus, own to day
Go about, leaving my mark on the day
Like the cat, I am to mark territories to day

This is my zone, what I want to do today
Work today, achieve today, determined a tad bit more today
Like a man, stood on graduating post, today

Who I want to be today
Be known today,  be shown as today
Like the heroes I look up to today

To be looked up to, as inspiration today
By the followers that come after me, today
Like I do to the one's before me, today

Where I want to be today, be stood today
From dreams had, aims to have achieved today
Like from the prayers I prayed, to have come true, today

That is where I aim to be, today
When the sun goes down on the day, today
Just so I will have owned the day, today

Today ,
Today,
Oh, yes today, it must be today

Faded Tapestry

Drum rolls, pictures fade on project-al, slowly
Faded memory of prime, lovers that came a' went
There was a time, when I used to swing and lights sparkled

Playing gallantry with the dance floor
I made the earth vibrate down to its very core
With such foxtrot moves, I conjured up tango and danced

There was a time, in not too distance past
When my stands brought novation, adored, stage light bright
And I charmed the most pessimist to believe in miracles

Occasionally I walk past walls, such walls
That once captured shadows of dance, in my prime
In my prime, in my prime, oh in my prime

A song in my heard, tap tap, foot movements
Tempts a come back, with dim lights flickering
And I heard an old soul calling

My brittle bones, fights to escape
This captive surrender, rose cottage signal signs  of an end
I fight so I can be  a matador again,

To bring shadows back to this life again
To bring shadows back to this life again
Drum rolls pictures fade on  projected walls

I beg not to be labelled

I beg not to be labelled
I beg not to be taught this
Be labelled and presented as a form
Of a form, in a form

I  beg not  to be taught this
Essence, drained of blood and of life
Of a form, in a form
On the butcher's table, drunk by the critics

Essence, drained of blood and of life
Drunk by the critics, without feel
On the butchers table, drunk by the critics
Boxed and presented in genre of pigeon holes

Drunk by the critics, without feel
I beg not to be labelled
Boxed and presented in genre of pigeon holes
And claim to know where my thoughts lie

I beg not to be labelled,
Not to be read, by those without soul
And claim to know where my thoughts lie
They will taint my handy work

Not to be read, by those without soul
Emotions that burst out in knowing, feeling
They will taint my handy work
So I beg not to be labelled, by the critics

Emotions that burst out in knowing, feeling
A connection no man can explain
So I beg not to be labelled, by the critics
No, not even I can,  be allowed to, label

A connection no man can explain
Presume to know your interpretation
No, not even I can, be allowed to, label
This is my gift to your kind

Presume to know your interpretation
But to be felt and shared, loved
This is my gift to your kind
To understand with no need on emphasis

But to be felt and shared
So I beg not to be labelled
To understand with no need on emphasis
Who spats out false prophecy

So I beg not to be labelled
Of knowing, by the soulless
Who spats out false prophecy
I beg not to be labelled

A Song, A Scent

A song, a scent, suddenly I am in paradise
A sunny place, a happy place, a fun place
Gravity feels a little lighter on weights, I'm weightless

The breeze sings a calming song to my ears
On tree branches, swinging on dance melody
The flowers, bright and rich of hibiscus, red

The sun plays disco with reflecting lights
On the surface of aqua, like diamonds
It sparkles, on rainbow colours, the sky so blue

Even the aluminium roofing sheets join in
Like an open invitation to symphony of happiness
The birds, the insects, the animals, come out to play

A ripe mango lay hang on trees, coconut, cocoa
Inviting me to plug, with taste on delight
Every single senses in my mouth alive

The shade gives me resting lie
To sit and ponder, to enjoy every bit of nature
For here I wonder and awe life in treasures

This is my utopia, my happy place
In the gardens of joy, in nature, on memory lane
A scent, a song, suddenly I am in paradise

Some where in my childhood memory
Some where up on the mango tree
A scent, a song, suddenly I am in paradise

Refilled Tanks

The clock ticks again
Fun sat as the order of  seasons summer
Breeze brought with it a chill of calm

The sun lighted up roots
To open up withdrawn souls, de-stress
I saw ants of people in Ashton court

I saw priceless of joy from the masses
A communal eruptions of happiness
A festive worship of summer

Summer comes and again
Suited and booted my tank filled up
This will carry me to the end of the year at worst

I got a refill from the summer's blast
I worshipped life and flew without feathers
I had time out at Ashton-court

Spoken Word

Wholesale, all go, all must go
Make me an offer I can't refuse
Set me a mark to reach behold

Grant me an audience to call my own
Sat at Fada, Farrago host
And I shall wow the crowd delight

Just nothing of it I could not make
With clay and stone a sculpture to build
I did become a poet on stage with words to mold

Whole sale all go, all must go
Call me to stage so I can be heard
All the crowd I did win over

Except for one, just for that one judge
Who for role of the Ringwraiths, she did take
Boo, boo, she got from the crowd

Make me an offer I can't refuse
Glad to have been on the stage this day
Whole sale, all go, all must go with a clap

The Dancing Joromi

Today I saw an epiphany, Joromi in the shop window
Hanging on a doll, sat on a Victorian rest
Cinderella's shoes and a necklace to match
Joromi looked alive, incandescent bursting with excitement

She moved on pause, pulse, in a beautiful, butterfly print
She had a heavenly spirit, that drew on my hunger
Today I saw Joromi in the shop window
Next to her, stood such adoring dancing shoes

So tonight, when the bells go din dong, in moon light show
I will be at the ball room, with Joromi
Ready to dance  my tango and foxtrot
Dance my High-life, to win the heart of my love

Today I saw Joromi in the shop window
Tonight I will become one with Joromi
And dance the night before dawn
Today I will win my lovers heart

And take Joromi home with me
Today I saw Joromi in the shop window
Tonight Joromi would share my bed

My Three Wishes

If I had but one wish..
Whispered in my ears by the ocean breeze..
To be used before the tied comes in...
I wish for love, oh I loved to sail off..
To new adventures of discovery..

Undiscovered worlds of quirkiness..
Wacky plants and animals unseen yet..
Landscapes hand drawn by mother nature..
Sunset horizon of beauty, only seen in paradise..
Birds with voices choirs from heaven..

If I had but one wish..
Whispered in my ears by the Irish leprechaun..
To be wished upon before the break of dawn...

I wish for wings to fly , to foreign lands..
To talk a language with foreign tongue..
To dress and eat  and dance in tribal ways..
To live a life of  tribal men, "with no tax burden"..

If I had but one wish..
Whispered in my ears by the ladybird..
To be used before the sun goes down..
I did wish, wish best of all..

That when I sit to write in dairy my quest..
Put to poem my adventures in stories..
My memory serves me well, what best..
In treasures, I gave to store in vaults..
If I had but One wish..

For The Support

Akpe na Enyonam..
If I say, I appreciate your support..
It is nothing short of what words

I cannot find to truly describe the vividness..

In capacity, in confidence, in say..

Of what weights of wings..
You carry me with..
Mine is well "Enyonam"..
Yes mine is well in deed

For when I look back ..
To t' tree that sprung me in branches..
You are my STRONGEST life line

Of believe, in roots that feeds me

With confidence of support...
"Enyonam" and I know mine is well..
Yes mine is well, mine is well

Enyonam mine is well indeed

When all the church bells..
Have gone silence in tune
Yours has rang so loud

A thousand faint ones' were made obsolete..

Serge with such assurance..
Resounding to burgeon in me..
The resuscitation's beliefs "Enyonam"..
To carry on camping, as mine is well..

And when outsiders sing with delight..
Saying yours is with adoration

" Enyonam" I know it is true..

Yes this is true, as my is well

For from where charity begins,..
I hear the same melodies sang to me..
With passion so strong  ..
That acknowledges long before others

To a Big sister treasured.."Enyonam"
For the love you give freely..
For t' pearl in your heart's warmth treasured..

As abundance of hope you give

Thank you “Akpe nee” ..
And I know mine is well...
You are appreciated “Akpe na wo”...

For mine is well "Enyonam"

Undefined

I am, I am..
I am yet undefined ..
The earth cracks bellow..
My strength I pull..

I am the shadows..
Of Christopher Colombo..
Yet to discover t' new world..
From old..

I am with faults..
Too many to mention..

I am t' best song on t' play list..
Only one with skips in its plays ..

I am loved, lurved,..
Hated and very dearly missed..

I am t' sun, fighting of t' nothingness..

Of the universe, I bring you life
Yet I leave burns on skins;

Skin cancer, Sorry!..

I am t' hope for all things positive..
Yet negativity,..

Hangs on my shoulders..

I am t' phoenix seed..
Fruits rotten in ashes..

Comes before me..

I am just human..
Weights of my positives a' negatives..
Define my equilibrium..
