Melting Me Down

Can the body and mind, time melt
With social science of chemistry wrangling
Bones, thoughts, hair and skin of this craze

Right beneath the grounds where I stand
Will my blood boil and melt me down
To do away with the stress that holds

Can I be excused and be given an escape clause
A re-set button to start all over again again
Like a clay sculpture crushed to be remolded again

Would that be the reincarnation of me
Mine revealed  to show the weight of source
Unplugged sockets of accentuation to live

To place a bet

I had a dream,  and saw what became of the corner stone
If prophecy had value it showed really it did
With the bet it placed on the corner stone

Half the time when names crop up
When names from the past crop up
When characters from old crop up

Leading one to wonder, just what became of thee
Did one flourish generously from seedlings to trees?
Was one able to bare fruits of thy seed?

What of the one sidelined, he was among us
Of the group that came in on the third row penalized
Close to the back and sat with comfort

What of the best among us
In those days with golden parachutes
The ivy league, with know and attention seeking

I wonder, what became of thee
When all others had been used to build
Who stood out to be the load-baring corner stone

If prophecy has value it showed
And the fortune teller came good
I bared witness to what became of the cornerstone

Guest blog: Entrepreneurship in the central region of Ghana

By Kase Knochenhauer
This study attempts to describe the strengths and weaknesses of attributes commonly exhibited by the young entrepreneurs in the central region of Ghana. Results are compared to previous studies from Poland, the United States, and Nicaragua. Eight groups of Ghanaian students self-evaluated the young people of Ghana across the attributes of creativity, energy, self-direction and risk taking. The results may indicate behaviors and thought patterns in Ghana that make successful entrepreneurship difficult. Results for the study were discovered through a class discussion at University of Cape Coast during a student discussion who evaluated their peers.
Ghana is a country that only recently received its independence from colonial rule, and although the British rule ended in 1957, many of its effects are still in play. The remnants of colonial rule may be responsible for the negative self-perceptions many Ghanaians exhibit towards their country’s goods and products. While they are proud of themselves and their country many have little confidence in what they produce. “It’s from England it must be better.” One seamstress sewed a “made in China” tag in the cloths she produced because they sold better. Remnants of colonial rule may be in part responsible, as socialism was Poland and Nicaragua, for their lack of confidence in Ghanaian goods the lower perception of self-direction. Before Ghana’s independence, the British acted as a governmental parent controlling the future steps of the nation. Now an independent nation, Ghana still seems trapped under the umbrella of others influence. Businesses mimic the parental influence of Britain and other European nations and sometimes even appear unwilling to move outside their realm of influence. Self-direction may be perceived as a weaker trait because in the past Britain made the calls, this leaves many Ghanaians uncomfortable to take the lead today.
It is interesting to see that the same problems surround creativity in both Poland and Ghana.  For the most part, those interviewed say that their own country exhibits this trait but also add that it is not supported financial, with education or with proper facilities. In Poland it was found that under the socialistic education system students were encouraged to blend in and move together in a similar and parallel fashion. This does not encourage creativity or self-direction. The typical Ghanaian classroom lacks hands-on-experience that can encourage creativity; yet a typical business in Ghana requires these traditional hands on skills. The British-based education system, which much of Ghana exhibits, teaches students that traditional African craft are for the illiterate. When these skills are not taught in the classroom students assume these traditional African crafts and hard manual labor is something for the uneducated.
In Ghana, creativity was observed in the process of production rather than the product itself. It seemed creativity was a product of imitation. Seamstresses, carpenters, and craftsmen often imitated products directly out of a catalog exactly as they were produced elsewhere. These locally produced goods failed to improve products or ideas that could easily have been modified from their original state. They imitated but were not willing to emulate these designs into their own culture.
In Ghana and Poland, there is a common belief that risk taking is difficult because it is believed the payoff will not likely occur. In both countries there was read concern that they would lose everything. Ghanaians commonly described that taking a risk puts immense stress and even danger to entire families. Additionally, it was found that the perceived consequences of a risk often outweighed the benefits. Ghanaians also described severe social stress when taking a risk. Many Ghanaians were looking for work but would turn down every apprenticeship position open. These paid positions are often left unfilled because it is believed that they are meant for the illiterate and uneducated. They describe a country where status is more important than wealth; chance of financial gain is far outweighed by the social risk of “stepping down” to a position of hard labor.
The four traits energy, creativity, risk-taking, and self-direction could be seen as essential for successful entrepreneurship. Missing two of the attributes makes entrepreneurship and country wide development much more difficult. It is most interesting to see that in Ghana, Poland, and Nicaragua the same problems exist for varying reasons. In all three countries, development in entrepreneurship is slowed by their perceived lack of self-direction and admitted fear of taking risks.

The nursery life

I would favor the wobbly legs
And a few falls, would not look so wrong
On the basis of efforts manifested

I would be warm to green shoots
And support germination with stands
To help, as sign posts to the sun's energy

I will buy a water can
With holes like shower heads
And make it rain, make it rain

I would build green houses
To reduce risk of the elements
And tender the soil to support your growth

But this would be my conditions laid
You have to break through the comfort of
Protective shells to show me your willingness

Nature and I would be there for you after
And I would favor your wobbly legs
And a few falls would not be so wrong

Endings Of A Book

What do you do, after reading a book
After the suspense, of who done it
The twist and turns, the favourite characters

The ones so hated, the ones so loved
The ones so hated, one came to love
Those that carry the sympathy vote, " so unlucky, poor soul"

Sat in a room, of solitary accompany
In a crowd, on fields, on different settings
But none so strong, with enough vigour of sway

To destruct attention, caught in a trance
Into another world, like that of Alice
Others wonder, with fascination of such dedication

Then to the last word read, of ending sentence
What do you do, after completing a journey
Just when the last wax, illuminates to its end

Some characters stay on memory, encrusted
While others dissipate, like ghost's shadows
Never to be thought of, ever again

Then one opens, closed views again
To be aware of one's surrounding, again
To pick and choose, what straw to pull from

What do you do next
After the last word of sentence
After the last cover gives way, to life in chapters

Announce Tables

Announce tables
A stage set, a page turned
A letter head with an unknown name

A picture drawn, with an unknown face
A character stands undefined
A faint disturbance from a standing mic

The winds blow, the curtains dance
 A Mexican wave gathers form
Slowly with grace, like a ball room dance

A whisper of sound, awakening light
Ignites blaze, glow of fire
Slowly gathers ground like the waves

A figure enters a crowded room
He takes a step, and nears the stand
He finds the center and comes to light

A stage is set, a page is turned
A character is defined
In a sea of crowd gather

Who are you to be
In a crowded room, taking steps
While shoes wait to be owned, claimed,  filled

Announce tables
A stage set, a page turned
A letter head with an unknown name

The News Paper Read

Morning brew, dressed would the monarch be
Cups of tea,  and  the news to be read
As the king on chess games, work games
He reads the news paper to start with routine

To be moved, on event of reaction
The news does read, a portrait of a man
Printed on pages, what stories he hold, I wonder

I wonder, what stories the horoscope pages tell, to ponder
Would it be to do with love, fortune, or a stranger's bequest, I wonder
He reads, this fortune tellers inscriptions, to know, his luck

I wonder, will the monarch have to abdicate his thrown
On default of mortgage repayment, be made homeless
I wonder how the papers would read

What of the weather, the weathers play
Would nature choose to smile on the day
I wonder, what the weather report would say

And for the sports, how did we do
Would the king, jubilate and wear his colours
Or seat frustrated, saying
"why did the manger not buy more players"

Cups of tea, or coffee for your like
As preferred , by the monarch, for his like
I wonder how the news papers read

Secret Society

I am moved, so move over
Roll over, step aside and watch
How it is done, how it is to be done

Show your badge for entry
In secret societies, secret handshakes
Recite, the secret phrase for passage

We done did it before, emancipation
Once upon a time in stories we hold
So this is just repetitive, like face wash

Every morning, done on instinct
And when we done with the roads
That elevate, like help books, we make our own

On the thought of mind control , awaking
Road maps, passage through forest
Of non explored, realisation done with a stride

Observers perplexed, like watching a man levitate
While stood shocked, mesmerised, with no utter
We run on water 75%, walk on air with breath

And we've got that, passwords, secret handshakes
Unlock secret gates with secrets codes
And find realisation, like awakening from coma

But you are not to be forgiven
To be caught out by the storm, in the storm
And stretch out for sympathy

Even kids don't do that any more
And we grown men, women
So behave, simply put

The wise speak in proverbs
To sieve out the likes in mind
On the same wave length, minded

Its like speaking in a foreign language
For the man, who knows no different
From being spoon fed

So this is the secret society
Codes of common sense to be applied
Waves in length, wave length of the mind

Off On A Tangent 2

Eureka moment of enlightenment
Boom, not bomb, silly you , Archimedes
When layers of conundrums are stripped bare

And a step, a stretch
Is all it takes, open sesame, clap
To unveil a master piece, there you have it

Nothing comes to the lazy man, you lazy cow
Who sits and wonders what if, if only, could have
And turns to take a nap in day light

Mitigating circumstance, when it is too hot
The Spanish are allowed, it is to be called siesta
Well what do you expect, try living in the sun

Okay so like I was saying, lecturing, blabbering
Who cares, shhh don't wake the Spanish
The conquistador, they fight bulls

Like I was saying burning dreams
With sucked up energy, where was I
Chain of thought, chain of thought

Where was I, why was I, chain of thought
Oh yeah, you know like a sink hole
Strange that is, always leaves a sense of vulnerability

Like a sink hole, Alice in wonderland
There is a reason, in reasons given
Why we grow out of, part ways with

Our imaginary friends as adults, as grumpy
And dreams are to be called ambitions
Okay another eureka moment

Grab a pen, ahh I lost it
Off on a tangent
Orbiting the earth

Dyslexia Disjointed

Don’t call me stupid
Don’t stare with bewilderment
To say as, say this, say in whispers heard
Mention a word and spell with ease

To check, and check and check again,
My keys, my phone, words spelling too
And still not see, where things do lie,
Where letters disjoint, in forming tête-à-tête

Look and say; what's wrong with him
Its not by choice, am not a dunce
Don't patronise me so, gesture as jester
And call me stupid

I am, the word-smith, dabbler you came to know
I write, I utter and to you; thoughts provoke
Such metaphoric connections,
Your intellect bow to, in appreciation's gestures

In sing songs, such masterful sounds of music sang
In painting, always a master piece to hang
My speeches are moving, I utter with grace
Effortlessly in doing so, it brings smiles to faces

But then, in spelling bee, to have become lean
To spell they as there,
Their as thier, exact, as exert
Don't call me stupid, its not by choice

To my mind, its what it sees, and reads as so
Being forgetful is not by choice regard
Sorry to have to ask, again again
Your "name", your "name", please again

To maths, I am brilliant,
To maths I am not sometimes pulling out hair
In my mind, its entangled in abstract
But don't call me stupid, its not by choice

Phoenix Breaths

Have you seen, with gifted sight..
The bottom line of pits..
Made stand and smiled..
On platform stage..

Have you danced a tango with a cactus..
And bowed down in appreciation..
While still unplugging what was left behind..
In piercing thorns on skins..

Do not speak bad of the dragon..
I have come to appreciate it's breath..
In dens he owned, I sat in a lodger..
He kept me warm and gave light

Trick or treat, is from what side..
Side of the coin the toss, gravitates..
So the lucky coin, still has a side..
Unseen yet, until show of hands..

Like everything else, in matter..
Do not speak bad of the dragon's breath...
That is the way, blindly
Opportunities are lost on perception

What became of Prisoner 46664

A sting left of horror, sorrows..
On a legacy in fine form to be left behind ..
By an honored man who saw it all..
To bear witness in life's drama..

To the roller-coaster of the theater, of life's stories..
That enveloped around him, in his gifted time on earth..
Few if any, know what lies ahead..
In the caricatures of drama, that awaits us..

The soothsayer and the oracle,..
Along with Nostradamus..
Have been relegated, in this regard..
Even the weatherman, knows to be cautious..

With what he says to the educated majority..
And so from genesis, his story began..
Born into royal, and then insulted by virtue..
Of birthright, like a suntan, sunburn on skins..

For the left, can not inherit the throne...
Like the second son of a King..
A spare tire made surplus to requirements..
In locomotive wheels,..

That never touches the ground..
Still the gift of stride, strive, is destiny..
And destiny says to strive;..
I am an empty canvas,..

Make of me what you please..
Dreams and ambitions are one thing..
One has to, still walk the narrow lane..
To come out the other side, a Made Man...

Sitting on thrones beyond one's imagination..
Made King of all men, in kingdoms fought for..
But drama is like a cyber game..
Stages levels reached, with challenges set..

Through drama he had, three companions..
And a fourth, for a course..
For which he spent decades..
Behind closed doors..

His life, has been a legacy lived...
But, before his death, he was devoured by his own..
To have watched his name and legacy, hard earned..
Fought for, all for the wrong reasons, for gain in wealth..

Thus why the fortune teller has been..
Relegated to south of the river's bank..
And he knows not, whether to leave..
A happy man, for what castles he built..

And apartheid dragons he slayed ..
Or a sad man, to have lived to see..
The carnage, his own brought to his door step..
Fighting over corpses on burial grounds

In unions and gatekeepers,
Battles for middle earth ..
While the destitute; symbols of a legacy,..
Goes starved,  and unattended in the dark..

For material gain..
