Being Self Assessed

Being self assessed
I am a wise hypocrite
I know I am, don't follow me

But the ying yang symbol, is not
It is the most poetic symbol on earth
I concur, truly I do, it stands as true

 It shows a defined balance
And the continuous war
We fight within ourselves

Between good and evil.
A good as evil
As evilly as good may have it be

It shows in clarity and transparency
That we can never truly completely
Do away with one and be as one being

No matter how hard we try
Because we are bonded
By the two as one, in the spine as one

That the most absolute "evil" of men
Ever known to mankind had a kind heart
To those that mattered to him, it mattered not

And the most "loving" of  men
Ever known to mankind
Had a dark side to match, poker face

Let no man take as set
Another as his mirror
So reflective to abide

For his hidden enigma, agenda
May be worse than yours
Cloudier than yours

He is only good, a deed so well done
So deligently to hide from you
That which is truly his reflection

Be self assessed
A wise hypocrite
I know I am, follow me not

The JB Danquah Murder

A politician lost his life
We are in dangerous times

Count down on voters parade
Clans and gangs with their colours out

On your door leave a mark
To be identified by, being colour coded

If you are lucky you will be spared
That is, if you are lucky, that is

All the same, turn off all the lights
Put the dog in his cage, ssshhh! on the barking

The cat has its own sense of independence
That is unless it has been pampered spoilt rotten

And wears a scuff keeping up with vogue
Then it will be snobbish to the rat meat

And will not last a minute
Out in the wilderness

Sorry, a politician lost his life
Where was I, where was I

Oh yeah, a politician lost his life
Sorrowful this is, to comprehend

He left behind a young family
But he was well to do, so they will be fine to do

Now to the two opposing sides, clans, gangs
Pointing fingers of blame, like fuel on flame

Looking for political points to score
Like a board game with bets on play

Along the line an accused got arrested
He sure looks guilty, motives are just not so clear

Coincidence it may be, it can be, but
It is t' sensitive time that holds worrying thoughts

It is an election year, its an election year
Nothing can be taken for granted now

Count down on voters parade
T' clans and gangs are out with their colours

Something to do with winner takes all
It is that serious on stakes

Nothing is to be left for chance
Not when there is this much to loose

Lets just hope the election observers
Are seriously up to the job, being all fair

A politician just lost his life
We are in dangerous times

Rhetoric, rhetoric, suspicions
And propaganda fuels the paranoia

Out and About, Staying True

Live with your flaws,
Don't pretend they don't exist,
Be true to yourself and all around you.

No fronting, fronting
#art #culture #philosophy,
I left my shoes out, brushed my feet

In front of the church house
Before entering for confessions
For I have sinned

Dirt under my feet got me here,
The dust hangs on my trousers
Like a worker's name tag,

It comes with the territory
Walk in the rain a' you will get wet
It comes with the territory

I have been walking.
This long a life on foot
A mile, on miles I took

Sorry I come without wings
To stay a feet away,
Hovering above the ground

See, Aladdin said no,
When I asked to borrow his flying mat
So I walked through the desert

That far, to get here
A walk on foot
That far, to get here

Go figure,
I am no saint nor chief
On a sinner's parade,

Blurred lines
I am just living with my flaws
Dots on my skin, old like birth marks

And mirrors do not
Get to call me out,
Putting me on a conscience blast

Remember
Your strength becomes
Your weakness, eating away

When you become overwhelmed
By your own success or failure
It changes you, it really does

Out and about, a life time on foot
Staying true to yourself
Living w' your flaws, a life time on foot

The Friendship Return Policy

There are some friends
That distance is only but
A foot step away

No matter how far or near
They are, the love remains
 Solid as ever, never forgotten

There are some friends
A yard away, a foot away an inch away
 Turns you into a stranger

And no sooner do you become an alien
Fading into ghostliness on passage
Paths of time and distance travelled

True friends do not fade
Like a cheap cloth that shrinks
And wouldn't fit after just one wash

Looking for the receipt
To read about the return policy
In the small print on store rejects

Which one are you
Sincerely don't fool yourself
Do you feel awkward when we meet

Wanting to hide as first instinct held
Too late you have been spotted, shame on you
Fighting so hard with your conscience

The Last Call

The pain is not in regretting
On missed opportunities had
No good crying over spilt milk

The pain is in reminiscing
On old memories we had
A sunny day, a better day, a funny day

I see all the young faces getting older
Singles becoming doubles
With plus 1 or 2 on the family tree

It is like the last sip from the glass
Staring long before taken, for prosperity
Bottoms up, just to get up and walk on by

Life is a series of films
With you as the main actor, character
Always constant in the script you live by

Let tomorrow
Hold us in good standing
As today did in memories we have

We made it this far
Butterflies with wings
In against the gale force

See you when we get there
If we are lucky to, in this life time
The winds blow down south

If not, then in another to come
Be the stranger I walked up to
By the road side in passing

And with just a smile
We became instant friends
A connection as old as time

#life #love
#friendship
#inlovingmemory

Your face is a picture
Tattooed on my frontal lobe
Like a projected hieroglyphics inscribed

I see you each and everyday
Whenever I think of you
A replayed scene on repeat play

The pain is a  joy of memories we sit on lament
T' we get high on to hallucinate seeing stars
And time lords over all, nothing else matter

Last Night's Dream

Angles protruding at the edge of reasoning
I was told to climb up the mountain
The wise man lives there

Dreams are explained by him
W' leaves mashed up a' placed in a cup
To drink and be told of your future

The clouds will open up to the sea blue sky
So we can watch the birds fly in formation
Following the sunset for sleep in the night

In the morning they will descend
The trees, mountains and hills, down the valley
In search of food or tweak to build t' nest home

Do birds a' mammals h' to deal w' conflicting issues
Family worries and sibling rivalry like humans
Do they h' to deal w' bad blood a' family pressures

T' are wet leaves left at the bottom of the cup
Looks like it is time for the old wise man
To interpret last night's dream

Urban life (easy now)

Rush chaotic sounds
Polluted lights, speed walks walks
Concrete jungle, stress

We use to live on
Trees now we live on concrete
Trees suited monkeys

Civilization
Who is laughing now I ask
Ha ha ha ha ha

Gosh, I just dropped
My dentures on the floor here, here
Help me look for it

Mother oh mother

Mother oh mother
You gave the breath that made me so

You nurtured the tenderness in my heart
You gave me a shoulder to cry on, I cried

Mother oh mother
You gave me the confidence to believe in me

You always remained solid as a rock to stand on
You never lost, hope, faith, I know

You cradle me from young without feathers
And to adulthood your warmth is still felt

Mother oh mother
You are the comfort I know and trust

You are the truth in sincerity
You are the conscience in my thought

You are the restraint to my unleash
You  always know to stop me from burning bridges

Mother oh mother
You are the strength that sits in me

You are my heroine of great name
You are an inspiration from gifted bless

I will always be in debt as assured
With what gratitude I owe you Mother

You are and always will be through eternity
My Mona Lisa...sweet mother

Mother oh mother

A Douechebag The New Vogue

Wiggle a wincy dincy wiggle
Cute as a cat's tail striped

Fluffy fury worn for a cocktail in fashion
Lupe, dopey, animal rights chasing Gaga

A friend I know, I would have to know
To be a friend, dum dum diddle dum

Said just call all such kind as
A douchebag, a douchebag

To say such a word is in fashion too
A douchebag, a  douchebag on a Paris catwalk

What or who is a douchebag
Is it this season's designer bag in vogue

Seriously I had a poem in mind
Just don't know where it went..

A douechebag, a douechebag
Guess that makes me a douechebag

Perfection of Art

An artist would never call a master piece perfect
Guess that is why death adds  more value
For the biggest critique is finally put to rest

Much in a rush to hang or publish, I am not done yet
Hold on, a little tweak here said Brown Ford Madox
A little tweak there, a little, a little, a little more for the "Hayfield"

And with each time seen in new light
A little more, a little more, tweak here
Have a little tweak there

How can one call this a masterpiece
Oh no, no, no, no, a little tweak here is needed indeed
A' w'h each time, in new light, a little more, a little more

Guess that is why, death adds more value
With the put down to rest of the biggest critique
A little more here, a little more tweak, tweak, tweak

He haunts the work, each time in new light
Adjusting verses, ryhmes and brush strokes
To tweak, tweak to perfection, old Ford Brown does

A Living Legend

What is in a name
Many a men to have lived and be known
To be made legends, villains, heroes and saints

What is in a name, to thy peers be known
To be labelled with an identity, known as
As one who walked where few men ventured

Carved a legacy to be accredited with
And for a thousand years and more
Let my name be known by all

What is in a name
Born and blessed with an identity  to know
Characters formed before birth from womb

I see my shine, I am tested to attest and confirm
So legends are us, born of some sort, an enigma
Destined to sit at the round tables of time

What is in a name
Let my name be known beyond my time
Immortalise graffiti on the walls of time

What is in a name
To have been named
I am to become a living legend

Choking on Air

Breathe, breath, breathtaking..
Gasping for little drops..
Of addictive oxygen,..

Like a coke head..
Desperately ready for a fix...
Sharp, nice...inhale, exhale..
Through exhausts pipes of lungs,..

Double cylinders..
Of the heart's beat,..
Gasping, gasping, jet sucking winds into my lungs..
Flapping wings on arms race..

I am not, to drown in..
These dirty murky waters,..

To be caught on hooks held by the trawler

My silk, too fine..
For this here..
Hangman’s rope...

Shore line..
Awaits my savior parade..
I will be a fish through..
These waters..
