Don’t call me urban! The time of grime

The Cycle Of Friendship (Part 3/3)

As an adult I had a lot of acquaintance
And made few friends
Ignorant is lost when survival
Turns green leaves brown

And the signs of intentions
Glow from acts that follows camouflage deeds,
If only on quick hands, wishing we don't see
Desperation erodes the principles of man

Grey becomes of characters seen
Torn between acts of friendship and betrayal
A few lessons learnt, in knowing how to read signs
Picking cantaloupe "muskmelon" with a tap

As an adult, I had a lot of acquaintance
And saw many a crocodile smiles
With few true friends made
In the cycle of friendship

Tumi and the Volume - Signs

I call this a discovery, diamond from South-Africa,
every song I heard from this guys was worth  the listen
with modern hip hop so lost, in the commercial take
and club tunes the only music making inroads,
this again is a refreshing find.

I will attribute their work to the likes of
Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Lupe Fiasco
It is relevant and for the likes
 who are into spoken word
will find this particularly interesting,
every one else will just enjoy the quality here

The Cycle Of Friendship (Part 2/3)

Drink with me to days gone by
When I grew up, with a cycle of friends
I lost a lot, a' rarely made new ones

I gained a lot of acquaintance,
Some came and went and left a mark
Some came and went and left no impression

Some got so close, close for bond
Close enough to be called friends,
But fell on the final hurdle, of what it takes

Some always had a sense of threat
But  with such beautiful teeth
Crocodile smiles to delight before a big bite

Drink with me to days gone by
When all I knew was bliss
Young and the innocence of life

The Cycle Of Friendship (Part 1/3)

When I was a child,
I had a lot of friends
Knew no enemies and what that meant

Acquaintance
Was a foreign word, omen
Too big for my vocabulary

In the parks, on the playgrounds
We played cow boys and Indians,
Left  life's erratic dirt on our cloths a' saw nothing of it

Just like hide and seek,
Monopoly and
Snakes and ladders

Ariel wash, luminous
Tumbled dried and kept as clean
The good old days
