Manchester Today

Oh Manchester today
we hear your cry
we hear your heartache

We see ur fresh scar
we witness your attacks
A cheap shot thrown at you

You have just been caught
in the middle of a
senseless debauchery

That feeds on hatred and fear
that targets the innocent
and celebrate horror,

Confused as to what is gained by it all,
a pathe unending of victimisation
a war with no cause,

No clearly drawn out battle fields
Out away, far away, where soldiers
bid fair well to their love ones

Find a safe field with equal measure
away from the innocent
and battle it out.

Why take on a civilian
and say it is just, for it is war,
All is fair in war

Who's medal of honor
is for hire so cheap,
placed with a discount reduce to clear

If for faith of religion
which God will welcome u with open arms preying on the vulnerable,

If for pride
such hallow deeds
will be deemed empty

By your own conscience
ones the arrogance of justification
dies out, so short lived

To have scarred a mother's womb
and robbed a life of it's time,
Her tears are acid rain on you

To have broken a father's heart
by taking away he's love,
His anger will huant you

And that of the children
left orphans by your acts
t hier loneliness will be your burden

A weight so heavy
you have just placed on your self.
A curse beyond this world

There is no justification
of war, for war of terror
none at all exist

If we accept each others difference
as the true beauty of God
for God is diverse

As his greatest attribute
and his hands are diverse
as shown through all of nature,

So why pin a mark on God
and insist on killing for such false cause
No one asked you for, no God needs

No God did.

Independence Ghana

Why should we honour a ceremony
Why should we stand on ceremonial grounds

Be seen in our best costume attire
With marching shoes and laces too

Flags and confetti waved up high
Lines and lines of row we adorn

Drums, dance and songs we sing
Poetry recital and libations we pour

A priest on board,
Some high dignitaries too

On this day we celebrate
On this day we were made citizens of

For our forefathers that came and went
On this day their blood we honour

On this day we take stock
On this day we self reflect

On this day, this far we have come
On this day, is this how far we have come

Though true to the word
So little we have done in our generation

Some even protest, a' ask for shame a' wonder
On how we could celebrate this our indifference

But it is besotted on us, we own
It is a legacy we are required to pass on

So on this day the Big Six stood
On 6th March to announce, we announce

We celebrate our independence
Invited guest from far and near

Would all be with us to self reflect
What it is we have added on

What it is as a legacy so great
Would we be passing on, on this day

Money is a god

If you look at the world
We live in,  vividly clear
In its true colour and form,

It would be hard to believe
In humanity a concept and
What it is suppose to stand for.

The asylum of country,
Religion and politics
Is being run by mad men. ‪

#‎art‬‪ #‎philosophy‬ #‎culture‬

We are all walking blind
And money is a drug on overdose
Being worshipped as gods

Popping pills daily
To maintain the delusion

Sacrificing human beings
On the alter of war
 Greed, famine and hunger

To the gods of money
#capitalist thinking
To the gods of money

The (in)dependence of Ghana

Denounce the government and embrace the flag‪ #‎wendellberry‬.

The politics, ‬ independence is a scam, all politicians are the same. We are in debt, but I owed no man, I borrowed no money, I sleep in the darkness but I paid all my bills. My pipes lie empty, I am forced to drink from plastic bags. The Doctor is in on the scam too; he's is no longer a noble cause, he writes prescriptions as a way of extorting money from the sick and vulnerable, then kills me dead on negligence, no recourse no one is held liable.

There is no blood at the hospitals, even though Jehovah witness are refusing blood, we are all selfish to give, though even after giving, storage becomes a problem. There is no air in the oxygen cylinder, watch me chocking dead. The medical stores are all on fire and the last remaining salvaged drugs are expired, being forced down my throat.

The condoms imported are too small for the African size, they rip off, thorn to shreds at the first thrust, and so I am left with a scare.

Our institutions are inactive, the country is run by sleeping sheep. The upper class are all foreigners living in gated communities, entered only by invitation strictly by invitation. The high end restaurants and hotels will not have me for being a second class citizen.

My roads are dusty red, dust covers my throat I am a Martian to be from Mars the red planet. Our farmers are under attack, Monsanto wants to play God to kill all our seeds and starve us dead, so the west can show us on TV begging for charity "please sir, give me some more sir". But how can I blame the West, it's a dog eat dog world and we beg to be eaten.

Denounce the government, embrace the flag, find your patriotism and stand for a cause, for politicians are all scam, in it just for themselves. ‪#‎Ghana‬‪#‎Africa‬ thinking out loud it's about time.

A man's war

Would the winds hold form
Seeing the rivers bloat

Over fed by the hills
At the start of the stream

A little trickle
A little trickle down it flows

Is God, one known to favor
And with selected preference

To owe allegiance to man
But not to all men

To watch blindly as man
Destroys another

All in his name
Martyrdom in his name

They yell and scream "for your blessing"
His name before battle

We fight for our God
This is for the lord

How is that to be explained
I created all the universe

Yet I can not win the hearts
Of all men, not all men on my side

This is man's war, all of it
This is man's greed, all of it

Masqueraded as a holy war
A jihad, a crusade; this is man's war

From the beginning of time
This has all and always been man's war

Yet with so little value on purpose
Since we keep lying to ourselves

That it is, anything but a man's war
All of it, all the blood, all the pain

No morality to fight for
No course so great

And God wanders why
And what to do with us

Fighting the two thousand year war
Just to destroy all that he created

In his name
This has always been man's war

The money issue; how rich are you

What is money
First put yours away
Before I succeed in talking you
Out of it, I might just do that, succeed

What is money
Such role play that stems as blood
Running through our veins in capitalism
Green eye monsters as slaves to its cause

What is the value of money
How do we define money
Wealth as a subject of money, money. money
What would you do for money, money, money

Old friends some as new
But all the same, made this acclamation
I would give everything away for money
For what is happiness without wealth and glamour

So I ask, what is money, what is money
Money, money, money
Its a rich man's world they say
They sing and throw feast to celebrate

Money is the compensation
Event for time spent my time bought
Anything worth our time in value
We do not get compensated for, we get rewarded with

Love, family, friendship
And the list goes on and on and on
For value is defined as essence
And money has no essence only as a prelude

If I am to break up a relationship
Friendship or for love any that matters
The worse aspect always to me
Is the time spent in making the memories

Wasted memories. corrupted memories
If by virtue of the broken chain
I would have to do without such memories
Which clogs up my memory banks

This is why we are never satisfied
With what we earn, insatiable appetite
Unless we are passionate about
What work we do

And the reward is from that satisfaction
Money is a compensation event
Which in itself is a substitute compromise
As a concession no compromise is as the true value

Money is a means, through
Passage path we walk on to journey
Not an end, a facilitator to open doors
Not the accomplishment never the accomplishment

The very rich turn to philanthropy
To attain a sense of true value
Not compensated value
To get that pure joy of soul satisfaction

What is money again
It is giving to Caesar what is Caesars
But knowing Caesar is only getting a share
After the fact, not as the fact

Do not be a slave to the money man
Follow the passion in you with dedication and strive
And money would come as a by-product
After the fact, being of Caesar's make

Wealth and value is not money
It is the uncompromising experience
Of reward that satisfies the soul
How rich are you

What is money
First put yours away
Before I succeed in talking you out of it
I might just do that succeed

Mark 8:36
What good is it for someone
to gain the world
yet forfeit his soul

The cries of mother

What a cold night, the smell of fear fills the air,
Even those afar off, sleep and stare,
Staying alert, watching out, ready to flee like a hare
Its a problem we all can't help but share.

The cries of mothers filling the streets,
Even the fathers have decided not to sit,
Our brothers are contributing their bits,
Our sisters we want to rescue from the evil pit

The evil ones with us have taken residence,
Their barbaric and destructive acts are now prevalent,
Further mishaps we are unable to prevent,
And so many lives everyday, we continually spend.

How much do we have to pay for their freedom,
How many souls to redeem our lost kingdom,
Or we are unconsciously treading the path of Sodom,
How we so pray for a miracle our way to come.

Suddenly the world is attentive to our plight,
To assist us they get on the next flight,
Their strength to combine with our might,
And together we will the enemy fight.

The blood of our girls  is to high a cost,
To redeem a cause we consider lost,
Dear Lord, please save us from this hell
We pray you help #bringbackourgirls

Thank you,
John kuforiji

Bring back our girls

Were we born blind
Did the night refuse to break

Did the night refuse to break
To see light in day, were we born blind

Were our wings formed broken, clipped
So from the bird's nest, birth we could never fly

Who would we blame pointing fingers
For the burns on our motherland, this time

Watching on, as our sisters are rounded up
Like a herd of cows huddled to be sold

Who are we to blame for this curse
That tortures tears from Mother's eyes

When will we rise and truly take form
No longer the weak with stories of greatness

The Kings and Queens of this land as acclaimed
Yet with cowardly acts, so little bravery bestowed

Why are we so content with the burden of  pain
To add to chains of hold back, locked up minds

Will a hero come out of this land
Not foreign again as rescuer, to the rescue

Prepared to sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears
And be true to the cause, a hero from this land

Oh mother cries, tears, bring back my girls
With so many of her daughters stolen

And yet not a single son, takes stands
Ready to bring back sanity to this land

Who would cure the madness that grips this land
Of false religion and politics and politics

Sending mother's sons and daughters into
The depth of insanity and inaction

I hear mother's cry I feel her pain
Bring back my girls

Just bring back my girls
Bring back my girls

And I cry, bring back our girls
Bring back our girls

Prioritizing Allegaince to Ghana

There was a time, when the Ghanaian flag held a place above all others in Ghana, with patriotism and national pride, the Red, Yellow (gold) and Green, with Black Star symbolized, the very essence of the Ghanaian.

Democracy was to enhance unity, freedom of speech and an all inclusive development goal of the single country called Ghana, however the patriotism that Ghanaians once had for a single unified country is now being replaced by political affiliation, more and more people pledge their allegiance not to the country but to the political party they belong to. At a funeral ceremony I saw this miss guided notion of affiliation for myself, when the diseased was draped with nothing but the flag of his political party.

This state of affair has encouraged a culture of "us against them" in the country, where the winner takes all, and the looser is put out in the sun, to dry out like a dead fish. The winning party sets about to replace all that are not known to be members of his/ her party with that of his own, regardless of their competence and their motives, the situation only adding to a culture where instead of people performing to the best of their abilities to be rewarded by that recognition, to a system where people rather more motivated to steal and hoard corrupt funds, since even if they go out of their way to achieve something worth recognizing, because of their political affiliation or lack of it, they will never get recognized for their efforts.

Until the balance is reset where the ultimate incentive is to the betterment of the country and all affiliations are first and foremost to the country, then to the political parties, Ghana is never going to find its self on  the right path for the development it deserves.  What all political parties fight for is to serve the country, not their cronies, the reward in all phases of this paradigm is the recognition of one's achievement and not respect based on how much money they own which is mostly attained through corrupt means. Value should be defined on the basis of substance, strive and self sacrifice.

The opposition should still see themselves with an important role to play, nominating shadow cabinet and ministers to keep the ruling party on its toe and thus bring about transparency and accountability in all areas of governance, us citizens Ghanaians should be given the opportunity to evaluate all political parties not only in election but in their proposed measures and willingness to serve the country whether they are in power or not, by their continuous contribution to the country's development all times.

This is the Ghana flag and like all the other countries that still hold allegiance to the British Monarch, such as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and most West Indies Islands and imprint of the British flag is incorporated into their  various national flags.

The writer here, advocates the need for all political parties in Ghana as a legal requirement to have an imprint of the Ghana flag in their political flags, to help refocus where the priority of their interest should lie, in-terms of their ambitions and goals. An example is given above, on how all the various flags should look like, this should be the case before the next election in Ghana and it should reflect the expectation of the voters in the country. One should not be of a given political affiliation to vote for a particular party, but on the basis that the party in question is offering the better prospect in serving the interest of the country.

God bless our homeland Ghana, and make our nation great and strong, bold to defend for ever....there is no mention in the national anthem of any political party, lets just remember that and do some soul searching to re-calibrate our mindset and thinking of our interest and what our individual vote should count for.

Popo, Kpoti, Bobby on the beat

What do I think of the Popo, Bobby on the beat
Officially still at work, what can he do  Kpoti

Officially someone is taking the piss koti
Being driven around as a third wheel hangin, Kpoti

Officially being driven around Bobby duty bound
Osu Oxford Street on the night rounds, "Kpoti yes sir"

As demanded, supposedly as an escort to the honourable
One Mr Important's, not so Important son, Kpoti

I could not but see a satirical joke, koti
In the scene that witnessed my presence

So to the point of the car parking, Kpoti
Some SUV of a kind new on the plate, Kpoti

But looking unwanted with opulence
What can I say, I observe I write , Kpoti

All four doors open like sesame, Kpoti
Then out comes Young Mr not so important

And his entourage, following dog tale
Of cause Kpoti gets out as well

Officially still on duty with piss take, Kpoti
Officially being driven around double piss take

For someone's pleasure
But wait Kpoti, koti gets left out

Standing next to the locked up car
To stand and wait, for hours long, Kpoti

For Young Mr not so important
And his entourage to go have fun, Kpoti

On a friday night, he is on the beat, Kpoti
What more would Popo, Bobby want on the beat

Officially still on duty, piss take on Kpoti
Officially koti has been assigned

The generous tax payer, to foot the bill
Why not, monkey dey work ...Kpoti

For piss take and the rest, Baboon dey chop
Poor old Popo, Kpoti, Bobby on the beat

The puppet house

Knock knock
Who lives in the puppet's house

There are no institutions or organisations
Be it religion or government

Strong and powerful enough
To fight or oppress us

If we realise that, all there is
Is greedy, corrupt and selfish individuals

Working as one in human establishments
Given resources, directly or indirectly financed by us

And elaborate acronyms to match
(NSA, CIA, FBI, al-Qaeda, Boko haram)

All engineered to scare the masses
They are never more in numbers

Than the oppressed majority
Hiding from fear, of false assumptions

Enlightenment is a realisation
A realisation is an awakening

An awakening is the revolution
Are you still hiding from fear

Knock knock
Who lives in the puppet's house

Who lives in the puppet's house
Singing "kombaya my lord is coming"

Dirty Games, Dirty Dance

Dirty games and dirty dancing, broken vases a, broken wisdom
Is us celebrating, celebrity mediocre as fine tune
And putting that on a mantle piece, Yes Sir !

Content hallow in the world of consumerism
Flash light, nothing last, nothing holds form
Nothing is built to last on this hype

Rushed through all in no time
No time for analysis, void in making meaning of
Factory belt sat on, moving motion passes by

In goes out comes a rabbit on heat speed fast vibration
A process defined with no added value, its battery powered
Its sensation sexuality sexualization wealth and arrogance

Hard to tell who is with wisdom among the crowd
Camouflage keep that unannounced, trainspotters hallucinating
Awareness is looking at one's self in the day after a hangover, it is not done

At night we all come out like vampires with thirst
Dress as the same, liquor fuels our agenda
Hard to differentiate the politician from the reverend

The prostitute services them all  at the same time
And she is owed by both for non payment on tabs
Still they think it is right to ask for discount

On account Miley Cyrus and Micheal Jackson are frowned upon
But again the good die young so why not switch
In this crazed world we live in, one learns to adopt

Honesty is laying it bare, it is an art form of exhibitionist
Going naked is a protest by FEMEN activist
Yet the eyes are all engaged, gulled, perverting

Quick now, how they jump out of the wood works
First with stones, dirty hands and hypocrisy, cleaning mouths
With false self-conscience on misdirected attacks

Dirty games and dirty dancing, scarce morality
Who would grace this floor first
The music is in play

Addressing the Preacher

Helen Ward, had the same mind
As George Orwell, I trust this to be true

May be separated at birth
But never on their essence of being

Today frogs and their cohorts
Stand on ceremony, demanding to be addressed

I have long protested the arrogance
And dishonesty of politicians "pigs" by George Orwell

They make me sick to live in filth, plastic waste
And demand to be called honorable

But even for them, oh even with them, I spare
I spare, for they are as politicians are

I have come to associate them
With a type in character, set on position

The pontification frogs of this nagging address
To this picture caption Helen Ward graced me with

Claim to hold holy his name
And abuse their position on holy grounds

They pay no taxes and con their way
Into the pockets of the poor and vulnerable

Offering miracles at a price, for self fortune
Self anointed kings of the religious domain

Quick to curse and doom any that question
To the hell fire, "You do not question a man of god"

They use their relation with their church members' positions
To threaten any that question, I have seen it happen

Helen Ward had the same mind as George Orwell
To see these frogs with loud voices quoting scriptures

They rob from the people they are suppose to free
The Shepard who sold all his sheep to the cheapest bidder

Thatcher, The Iron Lady

Melting ore from the earth
We come raw as resource to be molded

Cast in shapes to be formed on dreams
Defined by character, strive to be known

She walked fearless in the lions den
Tested by all that she came to know

Both friends and foes, with daggers drawn
To see what matter her heart was made of

She stamped her vision on an institution, stubborn
Made of old guards, conservative in nature

She took on those that walked for hunt
Crawled on the under belly of the earth they did

Hardened by their environment to stand opposed
They brought back dark coal, gold as harvest

She went to war with them and more of men on Falkland battle
She stood her ground and was crowned a warrior queen

Named the Iron Lady and revered by all
She was as the Queen of Sheba, Cleopatra and Yaa Asantewaa

To have died and be made an immortal legend
So few from once humble backgrounds in play

Will rise up this high to the throne of glory
And become an inspiration for a whole generation

Maggie, Maggie, oh Maggie
With Thatcher-ism and hair-do

May your soul rest in peace, mar-mite
While we argue on your controversy

Taking sides, for or against
May your soul rest in peace, Maggie

Africa is not a country

Africa is not a country
Believe me, renege such notions

Africa is not a virgin
Not green, like a new leaf

With 11,677,239 square miles
To its name as owned, a stretch of land

Africa is not a country
Not for its size, population or governance

Not for its language as spoken
Not for the culture so varied

If for the law of assemble order was to be
And gravity is to gather on principle

The biggest above and the less bigger ones
To sit at the bottom of a pan sieving

If by population, as given in economics demand
Supply of resource materials, and value added is added

If so Africa would now be the second
Strongest economic continent in the world

Second only to Asia on both accounts
So why then, the confusion  of the supposed order

Who keeps pulling the short straw as representative
When asked to pick one to reflect an image

Politics and social cry renders some incompetent
I heard another town fell into the hands of the rebels

And the world news pick up on it like piranhas
Africa, Africa Africa "in Africa, another........"

What is worse this time, is the naming
'Central African Republic'

So again I say, Africa is not a country
Though confusing from the media reference

And such named country as a central republic
Africa is not a country not by a long stretch

But a continent old, the beginning of the human evolution
Whether it is 54,55 or 56 countries, is to be debated

But Africa is not a country, a default on citation
For it is the eldest continent, of the seven daughters of earth

A standard required

I don't know if acclimatization
Means becoming alien to one's query

Why this, why that, why why "three little pigs"
Why I wonder, what reason gives, bamboo for rods

Shutting down my sense of sight and smell
Geared to spot the accolade dressed as normality

What gives, I try to find rational for structures
To justify the stands of  these barometers

Long after I walked past still unclear on thoughts
What gives, is it the love for gravy so strong to crave

But for silver there is so much more to have
Just without the need to hang decency

Is my sense of smell and sight to be turned off
Like a closed shop, or be the lone crusader

Who is psychologically incarcerated
For seeing these harvest of today as poor

Yet I know there are a thousands others
With protest; so who does the crime

And who watches on, without query
Why this, why that, a standard required

An inquest into the inquiry
Who shot decency for silver so cheap

If I am not mistaken the three little pigs
Built their homes as separate on specifications

Knowing not to mix, straw and block
As one for the walls of their homes built

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Little_Pigs

Note: KOANs Estate a house builder's shambolic and corrupt idea of saving on reinforcement in the concrete columns and beams in Ghana, using bamboo instead of steel in the concrete. This I believe is an exception rather than the norm in the construction industry in Ghana, hence my shock.
