A Concept Of Life

Reality engages me to look deep, into the caves of my making
I will have to face the rocky hills, that stand before me
With occasions of bright sparkles, rainbow hangs

To have me thinking
That finally my request has been heard
And the answer set so bright

And the pain from before
Pain of the process
Falls off feelings, memories, like amnesia

A mother not enjoying her family
A father his wife, a mother her husband
A son the calmness of a mother
A daughter the braveness of a father

Tasked to engage, married to the effort
Sometimes a spark, gives brightness
An assurance of what can be achieved
But we are asked to look deep into ice glaciers and see blue
Hope of a kind, how deep the treasures hide

A steady invisible shift of rivers of mountain ice,
Invisible to the eye of man, but none the less
None the less, it carves mountain rocks, into sculpture
There stand brittle before, such immense energy, force

Doors all around the world, holds stories behind
Each with a varied difference in concept to share
The hours of day, distant yet conjoined
By the simple complexity each have in stories to tell

Hope stands as the only resolve
Determined to be stubborn against the walls of Jericho
That strive, that strive will be known as the defining virtue of man
That on the eleventh hour, he will find the strength needed

Soon enough men”, I heard a man say
Looking deep into the eyes of oblivion
"Soon enough men I say "
It is the defiance that manifest miracles

Some just want clean clear water to drink
How about that, questions that lingers, rhetoric
And that would be more than enough
Much more than enough in value

Some just want to play in fountains
Make this a memorable day
Out with nature
Free like a bird, on birds flight

A miracle of a kind, man can make happen
Drinking from the greatest river of life
Soon enough men”, I heard a man say

What is in your pocket?
What defines you?
What do you always have on you?

Mine is a phone and a bunch of keys, a pen drive
Held by two gifts and a mystery key fob
A mystery key fob, oh how so poetic

  1. I like the lines "But we are asked to look deep into ice glaciers and see blue / Hope of a kind, how deep the treasures hide", and "Some just want to play in fountains" very much, as well as the rhythm of the glaciers' "steady invisible shift". Your poem has lovely shifts in mood.

  3. Wow, this blows me away. I hope we always keep the hope. It does define man in the end I hope. (There's that word.) I love this work and the way you express the sentiments.

  4. The idea of what is in my pocket defines me is scary indeed. I have lint and receipts to credit cards I should not have charged to. I liked the poem and the fact it made me think.

  8. I love the line, "Doors all around the world, hold stories behind " - it makes me think of all of the untapped ideas for stories and poems we still have to explore!
